Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONARD TEDDY LEWANDOSKI On Friday, May 16, 2003 at the Concordia Hospital, Leonard Lewandoski passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Len leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his wife Verna; son Ron (Leah) daughter Linda (Frank) Duka; son Robert (Connie) son Gordon; daughter Joyce (Zane Fedick) grandchildren, Gerry (Gail) Staub, Robbie, Kristy Lewandoski, Tim (Tanya) Selk, Chad (Judy) Selk, Terry Smaczalo, Krista Lewandoski, John Paul, Michael, Steven Rawluk; ten great-grandchildren; brother Walter (Toni), Ben (Carol), sister Doreen (Norm) Sharpels; brother-in-law John (Edith) Kolbaba and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Nellie on March 3, 1981 and by his father John on January 22, 1988. Len was born on April 8, 1935 in Cooks Creek, MB. Len and Verna were married in Transcona in 1954. Together they raised their five children for a number of years in the north end of Winnipeg, later moving to make their home in Transcona. Len was employed at Ogilvie Flour Mill as a miller, until his retirement after 39 years. He had served as President of Local 520 of the Canadian Food and Allied Workers from 1962 to 1982 and was Vice-President until July 1990, after the fire that consumed the mill and its eventual closing. Len was a great provider to his family and would help friends whenever he was able. He had a knack for building and fixing just about anything, which included the construction of the family cottage in the Whiteshell. His grandchildren were a great inspiration to him and kept him young and active. The boys will never be the same without Grandpas famous hair cuts. Len was diagnosed with lymphoma eight years ago and fought a courageous fight, and with much thanks to Dr. Pat Harris and her wonderful "angels". Len and Verna were able to enjoy travelling down south and hitting a few casinos, with the odd jackpot now and then. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations made to the Oncology Department of the Concordia Hospital, would be appreciated. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
