JAMES (JIM) LEROY CLEVELAND

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES (JIM) LEROY CLEVELAND Peacefully, on Monday, May 19, 2003, with his family by his side, Jim passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Josie of 17 years of marriage; his son Kevin (Lor) granddaughters, Madeleine and Louise. He will be fondly remembered by Josies family, daughters, Shirley (Mike) and Pat (Ron) grandchildren, Darlene (Craig), Elsie (Rohan) Michael Jr. and David; great-grandchildren, Shawna-Lynn, Craig Jr. and Nathan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was born on March 10, 1929, raised and educated in Swift Current, SK. Jim served in the Canadian Army Service Corps for two years and was a firefighter with the Royal Canadian Air Force for 15 years, serving in Wainwright, Borden, and Centralia, Portage la Prairie, Moose Jaw and St. Jean. After settling in Winnipeg in 1972, Jim worked at Bristol Aerospace, Standard Aero and Grace General Hospital. He was proud to be a member of the Army Navy Air Force Veterans for 25 years. Jims hobbies were curling, watching television sports, traveling, dancing, playing cards and Dominos. Ever the comedian, he was full of jokes and enjoyed making people laugh. He was a good, kindhearted, forgiving man and always humble. One of the last comments he made was that he couldnt remember ever being angry with anyone. Jims funeral service was held on Friday, May 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Victory Baptist Church, 3428 Portage Ave. with Pastor Archie Dyck who officiated. Interment followed in Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave. Pallbearers were Mike Diakowich, Michael Jr. Diakowich, David Diakowich, Mike Dineen, Glen Wall, Craig Phillips, Rohan Unrah. To the doctors, nurses and staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital (5th Floor, Units 1 and 3): thank you so much for your kindness attention and care.
