EVELYN ELIZABETH REICH (nee Omichinski) Peacefully after a lengthy illness, Evelyn passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2003 at the Beausejour and District Hospital. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Adam, June 13, 1992. She was also the last surviving member of her family. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Glenn (Penny) and Terry (Donna) also her grandchildren, Mandi, Adam and Jodi with whom Evelyn cared for, doted on and was extremely proud of. Evelyn was born March 18, 1923 in Ladywood, MB, where she was educated, married and resided until her death. Mom was a very independent lady with a great many talents: sewing, crocheting and cooking only to name a few. She was also an avid gardener and could always be found around her yard tending her plants and flowers. She also loved reading and enjoyed a challenging game of Jeopardy. Evelyn was also somewhat of our local historian and her knowledge will be missed. Over the years, Evelyn held several positions which included the Sewing Factory Gateway Restaurant, Catering, Price Rite Gas Bar and until her retirement, at East Gate Lodge. Evelyn was also an active member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church until its closure a few years ago. With respect to Evelyns wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Ave. E. Beausejour with Rev. Bill Woodbeck officiating. Interment will follow at the Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Cemetery. Our family would like to thank everyone who visited Mom during her lengthy stays in hospital. Also a special thank you to Rosie Omichinski and Eloise Chorney for their kindness; to Dr. Campbell and the nurses and staff for their care and compassion during Moms last days in hospital. Also to Lisa who was there at our time of need. In lieu of flowers donations can be made, in Evelyns memory, to CancerCare, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Dont grieve for me, for now Im free, Im following the path, Jesus has laid you see, I took His hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back and left it all, I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play, Tasks left undone, must stay that way, I found the peace at the close of day, If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joys, A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Oh yes, these things I too will miss, Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow, I savoured much, good friends, good times, a loved ones touch, Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Dont lengthen it now, with undue grief, Lift up your hearts, and peace to thee, God wanted me now, He set me free.
