LOUIS CHARLES CHRISTIE "Charlie" Peacefully, on Wednesday, May 21, 2003, Charlie Christie, of Winnipeg, passed away at 86 years of age. Hell be fondly remembered by his wife, Joyce; sons, Jim, Roy (Pat), and daughter Linda (Bob) grandchildren, Laurel, Heather, Steven, Stephanie, and Courtney. Charlie was predeceased by daughter, Grace. Born in Winnipeg in 1916, Charlie was the only child of Louis and Ada Christie. He grew up in St. James where he met and later married Joyce Achurch, in 1947, and they resided in St. James for a further 15 years. In 1962, they built a house in Lilyfield, which was home for the next 25 years, followed by their return to St. James in 1987. Charlie worked for Manitoba Telephone System for 23 years, retiring at age 63. While the Lilyfield years were considered by Charlie to be the most cherished period of his life, he equally enjoyed camping with his family at Westhawk Lake, first in a tent, later a trailer, and finally purchasing a lakefront cottage on Howe Bay. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the medical staff at the Grace Hospital for the care and comfort they provided. Family and friends are invited to share in a celebration of Charlies life on Saturday, May 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave., at Henderson Hwy., followed by an on-site reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba. Arrangements Entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM 220 Hespeler Ave. 668-3151
