MARLENE LOUISE JONES With broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of Marlene Louise Jones on May 21, 2003 at the Health Sciences Centre. Predeceased by her parents, Harry and Thelma Jones and brother-in-law Albert Unrau she leaves to mourn her passing her nephew Jim, whom she raised as her own; twin sister Dianna Unrau; sister Barbara (Bob) Criggie; brothers, Ted (Shirley), Roy, Bryan (Shirley) and many special nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Born in Portage la Prairie on November 6, 1944 Marlene moved to Winnipeg with her family in 1948 where she received her education. She was a loyal employee with numerous companies including Eatons, Grey Goose Bus Lines and most recently Archway Marketing. The First English Lutheran Church was like a second home to her and her values in life were strengthened by her strong religious beliefs. She volunteered countless hours to the church and served as the Secretary of the Board of Directors for many years. Marlene cared deeply for and was like a second mom to all her nieces and nephews as well as their friends who came calling. She always had a kind ear, loving heart and a warm shoulder to cry on. She led by example, instilling strong moral values with love and understanding. Marlene had great strength and never let any setback or problem in her life bring her down. She met life in an easygoing manner and used laughter as the best medicine. The things she enjoyed most in life were her family, friends, visits to Austin, family gatherings and celebrations, meeting for coffee, crossword puzzles, reading and just snuggling down with a favourite TV show. A wonderful sister, aunt and friend has passed this way. Marlene touched many lives, was much loved and will always be remembered through all the hearts she touched. Honorary pallbearers will be all Marlenes nieces and nephews. A celebration of Marlenes life will be held Monday, May 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church, 484 Maryland St. Interment will follow in the Austin (Manitoba) Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Marlenes memory to the First English Lutheran Church, 484 Maryland St., Winnipeg, MB R3G 1M5 or Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0B9 NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
