LORNA DOONE ADKINS (MacDONALD) Lorna Doone Adkins, surrounded by her loving family, died on Thursday May 22, 2003 at the Victoria Hospital. Lorna was born on September 4, 1920 in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, the daughter of Dr. Nathaniel MacDonald and Jessie Robina MacDonald (Gilchrist). She was the wife of William (Bill) Adkins Adkins who predeceased her in 1976. Lorna grew up on the ocean, loving its vastness, a love she easily shared with the wide-open spaces of the prairies. Bills work with the bank took the family all over western Canada and Lorna was an active volunteer in her communities. She worked with the CNIB and Meals on Wheels. She was the District Commissioner for the Girl Guides in Swift Current and served on the Henderson Regional Library Board in Winnipeg. She shared her time and talents with many works in the church. Lorna loved words and enjoyed a game of Scrabble and reading mystery stories. She was a caring woman with a keen intellect who loved to share her opinions in lively conversation. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren. She said they were quite "satisfactory"! Lorna will be remembered with love by her children, Bill and Suzanne, Bob and Nancy, Liz and Jan, Robin and Chris; grandchildren, Mark, Sam, Matthew, Emily, Calin, Laura, Lesleigh and James; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Taylor. The family thanks the many people whose friendship and care brought Lorna joy. A celebration of Lorna Doones most satisfactory life will be held on Monday May 26 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Donald at Graham at 1:00 p.m, with Rev. Robin Mather and Rev. Henry Falconer officiating. In lieu of flowers please remember Lorna with a donation to the Trans Canada Trail, 43 Westminster Ave. N., Montreal, QC H4X 1Y8. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
