ALLEN LUNDEEN 1916 - 2003 It is with great sadness that the family of Allen Lundeen announces his passing on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at the Victoria General Hospital. Allen died peacefully after a brief illness. Allen was born the youngest of three children in December 1916 to Swedish immigrants who settled on a farm near Moose Jaw, SK He was pre-deceased by his brother Levi and sister Mary. Allen made many friends in the area as he grew up and learned the three Rs in a one-room schoolhouse in Red Lake. While he was able, Allen was a regular attendee at the annual Red Lake reunion picnic. When the Second World War came along, Allen proudly served his country overseas, and was forced to come home with a leg wound. He was sent to recover at the Deer Lodge Hospital in Winnipeg, and while he was there, he met a special young volunteer named Margaret OConnell. Allens good looks and charm must have had an effect. They were wed in November 1948 and were inseparable until Margaret was taken from him too soon in June 1991. Left to mourn his passing is his son, Brian and daughter-in-law, Evelyn. Although a skilled upholsterer, Allen spent most of his working life in Winnipeg with Canada Post, and enjoyed bowling, curling and gardening in his leisure hours. His kind and cheerful nature will be sadly missed by all who knew him during a long and full life. The family would like to thank the many staff at Home Care, Rosewood Village, Riverview Health Center, Misericordia Health Center, and Golden Links Lodge, who made sure that Allen was well cared for in the final years of his life. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 26 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Allens memory to the charity of your choice.
