ELSIE MARIA LACROIX (nee DEMEYER) Mom passed away peacefully, with family at her side, at Selkirk General Hospital on Friday May 23, 2003. Mom was born in St. Boniface, MB on June 8, 1916. As a young woman, she worked as a hairdresser. She met the love of her life, George Emile and on May 6, 1942 they married. Before long, Mom became a full-time mother of three and continued hairdressing part-time. After Dad retired they spent many years as snowbirds visiting and travelling in Arizona and California. Eventually retirement had them settle in Petersfield, MB where many enjoyable years were spent. Mom became an avid gardener, she loved to plant, nurture and harvest her garden each year and was already planning this years endeavour. Mom was predeceased by our father George Emile (2001), her parents, Emma and Emiel DeMeyer; and one brother Charles DeMeyer. She will be forever remembered and very much missed by her three children, Linda (John), Suzette (Reg) and Gerald (Joanne) grandchildren, Brigitte (Kelly), Christine (Carmelo), Jean-Luc (Carolyn), Josette (Colin), Daniel (Michelle), Christian (Karine), Kasmira and Julian, five great-grandchildren, sister Elodie DeRoose and brother Rene DeMeyer (Mary), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, brother and sisters-in-law. A celebration of our mothers life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27 at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, Selkirk, MB with Fr. Boguslaw Wardzinski officiating. A private family interment of ashes will take place at a later date. Heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff, 2nd floor SGH, Selkirk Home Care and Doctor Badenhorst for their compassion in caring for our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted in Moms memory to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
