Gwen was born in Pontipred, North Wales and at the age of 2 came to Winnipeg and lived in the Ft. Rouge area. Our mother met and married Lloyd, a CNR Railroader, raising their four girls until his sudden passing in 1956. After 16 years, Mom returned to work at Eatons mail-order while raising her family. In 1975 when the mail-order closed down, Mom went to work at Winnipeg Banknote where she continued to work until her retirement. In recognition of her 19 years of volunteering at Riverview Health Care Centre, she was awarded a prestigious service plaque. Gwen lived her whole life in Fr. Rouge, resided at 601 Osborne St. for 31 happy years. She kept busy by socializing with her many childhood friends and the Eatons mail-order girls. Mom will be remembered by many as a strong, caring, fun loving and young at heart person. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to all the staff at the Riverview Health Centre for the loving care and kindness given to Mom during her stay there, and a special thanks to Linda D. for being there when she went to be with our Dad.
