Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUKE LLOYD CHARNEY It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Luke Lloyd Charney on Saturday, May 24, 2003 at the age of 91 years. Luke was born in Ledwyn, MB on May 21, 1912. He was predeceased by his wife Rose on January 14, 1990; his son Clarence; his parents, Gregor and Helena; his brothers, Mike, Kenneth and Louis; his sister Olga; and four brothers and two sisters at a very young age. Luke is survived by his son Lawrence (Dorothy), Gail (John) Brittany and Ryan, Greg and Sharon (Jason) son Harold (Shirley), Loni and Rhonda (Tony) Aiden; daughter Doris Palka (Ron), Michael and Richard; son Rod (Jean), Jason and Chris; daughter Shirley Eyolfson (Rick), Arlen, Richelle (Blair) and Brett; daughter Linda Alexander (Lorne), Lachlan; son Randy (Louise), Raymond and Jordan; brother Walter (Louise) sister Frances; brother Joe; sister Sally Shawara; and sister Rosie Buchko. Luke lived his entire life in Ledwyn. In his early years he cut pulp, fished on Lake Winnipeg and farmed for many years. He was a hard worker full of energy who led a very active life. In his later years he enjoyed working in his yard and garden and playing with his grandchildren. Travelling to places such as Yellowknife, Vancouver, McBride, Churchill, Chatham, Manitoulin Island and Casino trips brought him great joy. He looked forward to family gatherings and especially playing the card game "Hola". Prayers will be said on Wednesday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 29 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church, Arborg, MB, with Fr. David Kowalski officiating. A viewing will be held one-half hour prior to mass at the church. Interment will follow in the Ledwyn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Church (Ledwyn), care of Box 432, Arborg MB R0C 0A0 or to the charity of your choice.
