Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY MEAKIN (nee VIER) Dorothy passed away peacefully on May 24, 2003 at Golden Links Lodge with family at her side. She was predeceased by Vince, her husband of 41 years, in 1981. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children, Marjorie Guyot of Winnipeg, Ron and Edith of Winnipeg, Reg and Barb of Dauphin and Doug and Bev of Winnipeg; nine grandchildren, Rhonda-Lee (Andy), Rob (Nadine), Rick (Carla), Lionel, Mark, Raymond, Andrea (Kim), Stacey and Jay; and five great-grandchildren, Breanne, Ryan, Lindsay, Theron and Brittany. Dorothy was born in Makinak, MB October 28, 1912, one of 16 children to Herbert and Mary Lillian Vier. The only surviving sibling is Edith Ambrose (Bill) of Rathwell, MB. Mom lived in Winnipeg and Starbuck before she and Dad moved to Dauphin to raise a family. While in Dauphin, Dorothy was an active member of The Order of Royal Purple and the Saint Pauls Anglican Church Womens Auxiliary. She will always be fondly remembered by her children for the wonderful aromas that escaped the kitchen on baking days. Her buns, cinnamon rolls and butter tarts were the best. Dorothy and Vince retired to Winnipeg in 1971 where she resided until her death. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Links Lodge for their caregiving, especially the efforts to make her comfortable in the last few days. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 28 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary Magdelene Church, 3 St. Vital Rd., with Rev. Robert Webster officiating. A reception will follow at the church prior to interment in the family plot in Starbuck, MB. Dorothys grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
