Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE MARGARET LAWSON Catherine Margaret Lawson of Boyne Lodge, Carman, formerly of Miami, MB passed away peacefully on May 27, 2003 in her 85th year. Margaret was born on August 9, 1918 at Graysville, MB, the second and youngest daughter of William and Christina Leslie. Margaret was a caring, loving and generous woman who gave her fullest to her family, friends, neighbours, community, church and the thousands of patients who have been in her care over the years. She was defining the words balance and multi-tasking as early as the 1950s... showing great strength and determination while helping to manage a successful farming operation, continuing her professional nursing career, raising four active children, taking care of family elders, and coordinating/convening/cooking for many community and church events. There was always an open invitation and wonderful food at Margaret and Bobs table at Maple Grove Farm. This spirit of generosity, giving and sharing was who Margaret was, and it continued for her entire life. All of this was accompanied with her warm, beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humour. As a young woman, after completing her high school education, Margaret was accepted into the Registered Nursing program at Carman Memorial Hospital. She continued to nurse in Carman and at the time of her marriage to Bob Lawson in 1944, was Matron of the hospital. After taking time to raise her family, she returned to nursing at Carman in the late 1950s and nursed for an additional 20 years. Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband Robert George (Bob) in 1987 and her sister Helen Dickinson in 1995. She is survived by Bill (Louise) Lawson of Souris, MB, Donna (Tony) Smith of Langley, BC, Ray (Gwen) Lawson of Miami and Doug (Signy) Lawson of Markham, ON. There are 10 cherished grandchildren and three precious great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews will also miss her warm smile and open house to all for family picnics or visits. A special service of celebration of Margarets life will be held at Miami United Church on Friday, May 30, with Allison Halstead officiating. Pallbearers are grandsons Robert Smith, Derek Smith, Ryan Lawson, Adam Lawson, Joel Lawson and Mark Lawson and granddaughters Tanya Smith, Jana Lawson, Andrea Lawson and Danika Lawson. Honorary pallbearers are her dear friends from Unit 2 of the Miami United Church Women (UCW). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margarets memory to the Miami United Church, the Boyne Lodge, or to the Carman Memorial Hospital. Doyles Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
