VELMA MARY STOYKA (Nee ROZSA) After a courageous battle with cancer with family by her side, she went home into the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Saviour on May 28, 2003. Her faith and belief was unwavering and gave her strength throughout her life. She was born May 16, 1929 and raised in Sprague, MB. At the age of 16, she sought employment in Winnipeg. Here she met the love of her life, and Mom and Dad were married June 12, 1948. They were preparing to celebrate 55 years of marriage next month. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Ida, her brother Ernest and sister Emma. Remaining to cherish Velmas memory are her husband John; her son Ron (Jeanne) daughters, Sherron (Dean), Lynda (Chris). She will be missed by her grandchildren, Edward, Chantal, Tara (Eric), Samantha (Jon), Kelly and Erin; and great-grandchild Kyle. Also her brothers, Andrew (Lynda), John, Ron; and sister Mary-Anne. Mom had a great love for family and a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. She took great pride in preparing wonderful feasts for family gatherings. She especially enjoyed baking and was well known for her excellent Christmas cakes and cheesecakes. Mom offered her caring and generosity to others. She had a love of life, a great sense of humor and quick wit. Above all, her beautiful smile will always be remembered - it persevered until the very end and always shone through, even during times of adversity. Many thanks to Dr. G. Lipinski, Dr. Maksymiak and the excellent care received from the 3rd floor nurses at CancerCare. A special thanks to her Palliative Care nurse Sharon Labine; and the wonderful homecare workers, Mary, Olga and Tabitha. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 31 at 12:00 p.m. at the Buntain Chapel in the Argue Building at the corner of Cumberland and Hargrave with Pastor Bruce Martin officiating. Interment will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave, Winnipeg, MB R3B 3A8 in support of the childrens program Kids Zone. May she rest in peace. We love you. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
