Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM ARCHIBALD BROWNE 1922-2003 At 81 years of age, Bill has gone to begin his next journey after a short battle with cancer. He will be sorely missed and leave a void in the lives and hearts of all who knew him. Bill was born on July 23, 1922 in St Boniface. Except for a brief period in North Bay, ON., Bill lived his entire life in Winnipeg. He served in the Second World War as a Flying Officer in the RCAF Transport Command. Upon his return to civilian life, Bill met and married Irene Leah DeBrouwere. Together they made a home in St. James and raised their four sons. In 1978 Bill retired after 40 years from the Canadian Wheat Board as the Manager of Information Services. Aside from his family, Bills greatest joy in life was golf. His passion for the game began as a young man and through golf Bill met his second wife, Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Roberts (nee MacKay). Bill and Betty were married on Oct 23, 1987. Over their 16 years together, Bill and Betty cherished their second chance at love, laughter and good times. Together they enjoyed many trips with their golf clubs in tow. Bill will remain lovingly in the memories of his sons, William Douglas Browne, Kenneth Achille Browne (Judy), Paul Norman Browne (Colleen) and John David Browne (Karen) and his stepchildren, Sandra Hingey (Jim), Susan Marlatt (Chris), Donna Murray (Norm) and Ron Roberts (Shannon). Treasured grandfather of Gwendolyn, Samantha, Jamie, Morgan, Megan, Kelsey, Melissa, Erin, Cameron, Sean, Matthew, Kathryn and Kyrstyn. Bill was predeceased by his parents William Everett and Isla (nee Raymer) Browne; his first wife Irene Browne (nee DeBrouwere) his brothers, Bob Browne (Calgary), Frank Ross Browne (Winnipeg) and sister Ruth Ayers (Winnipeg). A memorial service to celebrate Bills life will be held at St Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave., Friday, June 6 at 12:30 p.m. The family thanks the WHRA palliative care team, the Grace Cancer Care team and the WHRA homecare workers. A very special thanks for the help and support from Louise. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
