WASYLYNA (LENA) KULBABA Peacefully on Sunday June 1, 2003 Lena passed away at Holy Family Nursing Home at the age of 94 years. Lena was born on February 22, 1909 in Duck River, MB where she lived and worked on the family homestead with her parents and seven brothers. She married John in 1933 and they had a daughter, Marie. As a young family they moved to Winnipeg where Lena worked as a seamstress. She took much pride in her work, retiring in the early 1970s. Granny had a kind and gentle nature and was devoted to her family. Her home was always open to family and friends who needed a place to stay. Granny had a passion for cooking and gardening and had a wonderful sense of humour. She was predeceased by her husband John; daughter Marie; son-in-law Paul; and brothers, Metro, Mike, John, and Steve. Granny will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by grandsons, Rodney and Wayne (Samantha) great-granddaughter Jessica; brothers, Peter, Nick, and Bill; as well as many extended family members and neighbours. We would like to thank those who visited Granny during her residency at Holy Family Nursing Home. A special thanks for the exceptional care given by the staff. We greatly appreciate the compassion and loving kindness she received by the devoted care givers of the second floor Sacred Heart ward. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, June 4, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 5, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Ave. with Rt. Rev. Mitrat Jaroslaw Holowaty officiating. If friends and family so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Holy Family Nursing Home, 165 Aberdeen Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2W 1T9, or to a charity of ones choice.
