DONALD DELBERT BROWN It is with deep sorrow that the family of Donald Brown announces his passing on Sunday June 1, 2003 with his wife Audrey; daughter Carol Conan; sons, Christopher, Richard and Mark at his side and surrounded by his extended family including Frank Conan, Debbie Brown, and Maggie Nagle, he slipped peacefully away on a beautiful, clear June afternoon. His grandchildren Michelle, Lasha, Jean-Paul Conan, Hannah and Julian Brown will lovingly remember him. Don was born in 1930 on the homestead at Ninga, MB to John and Mina Brown. The youngest of five brothers, Don grew up on a farm and learned the value of family and hard work. Don met the love of his life Audrey Arbuthnott in Killarney and they were married in 1953. The happy couple lived in Winnipeg where they began a life together that would stretch over the next 50 years. Don worked his entire career for A. Lloyd Clark. He had a deep curiosity about how things worked and was happiest with a thousand parts spread over his workbench amid oscilloscopes, transistors and manuals. He loved working with his hands solving problems and making broken things work again. Don was an accomplished wood worker making useful and beautiful things for the people he cared about. Don loved to golf and regularly played the Windsor Golf Course. Those that played with him will remember his straight drives and finesse around the greens. Don and Audrey loved the arts making regular trips to see theatre, dance, music, and visual art. Don loved all kinds of music, particularly jazz, and passed this love of music on to his children and grandchildren. Don was a 44-year member of St. Vital United Church where he played an active role in church life as a member of the "Couples Club" and regularly volunteered for church services and events. Many close and lasting relationships developed from this association and he will be remembered by many whos hearts he touched. Most of all Don was a family-centered man. He loved vacations and we share many happy memories of camping trips spent together. The Family would like to thank the staffs of the Deer Lodge Center, The Misericordia Health Center, and the Victoria General Hospital that showed great compassion and attention to us all. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Canada Winnipeg Chapter, Room 204, 825 Sherbrook St, R3A 1M5, or the charity of their choice. The service will be held at St. Vital United Church, 937 St. Marys Road, Friday, June 6 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception at the Church and private interment in St. Vital Cemetery.
