PAMELA JOAN CARBERRY (THOMAS)
Born: Apr 29, 1921
Date of Passing: Jun 03, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPAMELA JOAN CARBERRY (nee THOMAS) With profound sadness, the family of Pam Carberry announces her sudden passing at the age of 82 after a very brief illness. Pam passed away quietly and with dignity on June 3, 2003 in the company of her daughter Lesley. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lesley (Ray) of Whitehorse, her son Tom (Fran) of Dauphin, son Gord (Connie) of Winnipeg. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Carl, Frank, Jamie and fiance James, Katie, Patrick and Quinn. Mom was predeceased by her husband Jim; and her parents, George and Florence Thomas; and brother Ivor. Mom was born April 29, 1921 and lived most of her life as a resident of West Kildonan. She attended Victory School and St Johns Tech. Prior to her marriage she worked at Imperial Tobacco. Marrying Jim in 1949, she lived for a short time in Largo, FL and Toronto, ON, returning to Winnipeg in 1951. Mom was a true caretaker having nursed her mother during childhood, raising her children and caring for her husband through a protracted illness. Since Jims death, Mom had been a support for all her friends at Bleak House often running errands for them and acting as the chauffeur. They will all miss her greatly, but especially Irene and Mabel. While outwardly, the feisty "old broad", Mom had been very lonely since the passing of her lifelong mate, Jimmy, and she is now at peace in his company once again. We are sure they are already planning a camping trip together. Cremation has taken place and a celebration service of Moms life will take place at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Anglican Church, 160 Smithfield Ave., on June 7 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the cemetery of St. Johns Cathedral, 135 Anderson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bleak House Centre, as it was a very special place for Mom. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

We spent many evenings at Mrs. C's and Gord's home in West Kildonan during the 70s. Gord was a great friend of ours and Mrs. C fast became a surrogate parent of sorts, during that time. The four of us shared many conversations/fun visits as Mrs. C and Bea would Afghan the night away. She was quick with the tongue and possessed an unreserved, infectious, hearty laugh. Unfortunately, we lost touch over the years and regret not having reconnected with this Remarkable Lady. - Posted by: bri and bea mich (friend+) on: Sep 11, 2018
