HARRY COMA After a courageous battle with cancer, Harry Coma passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at the Grace General Hospital, at the age of 72. Harry will be sadly missed by Cory and his extended family, Esther Coma of The Pas, MB, Penny (Todd) Rickner of Winnipeg, Peggy (Gordon) Boychuk of Winnipeg; his two sisters, Rose McMaster of Winnipeg and Pat (Bill) Pick of Penticton, BC; his three brothers, Fred (Mary) Coma of Winnipegosis, Nick Coma of Winnipegosis and Walter (Emily) Coma of Cowan; as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends; and not to be forgotten by his faithful companion "Snoopy". Harry was born on October 1, 1930 in the rural Manitoba community of Winnipegosis where he received his education. With an ambitious spirit, he sought work in various fields which took him to many destinations in other provinces. He returned to Manitoba to accept a position with the Harbour Board in Churchill in the early 1950s. It was not until 1959 that Harry would find a career that suited his adventurous nature: bus driving. Starting off with Manitoba Motor Transit (later becoming Grey Goose Bus Lines), Harry was one of the night drivers on the Dauphin-Flin Flon run. He later met and married Esther Burtnyk of Ethelbert, MB, and together they operated the bus depots in both Dauphin and The Pas. Moving back to Winnipeg in 1986, he resumed driving until his retirement in 1995. Harry was easily approached, a careful listener and non-judgmental; his optimistic view of life always encouraged one not to worry and to always "think positive". He was generous with his time and talents, often shown through his love for cooking and gardening. His "garlic-infused" roasts left nothing to the imagination and will surely be missed by all. The family wishes to thank Dr. Inglis and Dr. Harris for all of their help and the nurses at the Grace General Hospital for their care and compassion. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 7 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harrys memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0T9. To Those I Loved And Those Who Loved Me When Im gone, release me, let me go... I have so many things to see and do, You mustnt tie yourself to me with tears, Be happy that we had so many years. I gave to you my love, you can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now its time I travelled on alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must, Then let your grief be comforted by trust. Its only for a while that we must part, So bless the memories within your heart. I wont be far away, for life goes on; So if you need me, call and I will come, Though you cant see or touch me Ill be near And if you listen with your heart, youll hear All of my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone Ill greet you with a smile and say, "Welcome Home" Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
