Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWINIFRED SMITH On June 4, 2003 we said our final goodbye to Mum. Winifred Smith was born on December 21, 1919 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. In 1972, along with her younger daughter Jillian, she came to live in Winnipeg where her elder daughter, Alison, was living with her husband Bruce and children. Winifred lived in Winnipeg for five years working at Pitblado & Hoskin and in the Manitoba Land Titles office. She had been a widow since 1969 and so we were delighted when she met and married Alex Smith. Shortly after their wedding in 1977, they left Manitoba and lived the next 21 years in British Columbia. After Alexs death in 1999, Mum came home to be near her children. For the past year she enjoyed living at Lions Place. Mum will be remembered for many things by those who knew and loved her. She was an inveterate volunteer even when her health began to slow her down. Many organizations in Winnipeg and in British Columbia benefited from her dedication and skills. She loved to meet new people and see new places. Friends and family enjoyed the results of her love of cooking, her thoughtful gifts and her warm and ready conversation. Mum will always be loved and remembered by her family daughter Alison Edgar and her children, Gail, Andrew (Le-Ann), Stuart (Marta) and Aaron; daughter Jillian Hudspith, (Dennis) and Jillians son Peter Mueller; great-grandchildren, Luke and Matthew Princiotta, and all the other special people who became family or just like family through re-marriage and other important connections. Heartfelt thanks to the staff on GD3 at Health Sciences Centre for caring for Mum in her final weeks. Over the past few years, Mum has enjoyed the fellowship of the Unitarian Universalist Church. To honour Mum, we ask that any donations in her memory be made to the Church Building Fund, First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Cres., Winnipeg, MB R3M 0A7. We invite all friends to join with us to celebrate the life of Winifred/Mum/Grandma on Friday, June 13 at 3:00 p.m. in the Unitarian Universalist Church at Wellington Crescent and Academy Road. Well tak a cup okindness yet, For auld lang syne
