Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGARRY PAUL LEVINSON June 15, 1945 - June 6, 2003 On Friday, June 6, 2003 Garry Levinson passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital, with his family and friends by his side. Garrys memory will be cherished by those he left behind: his wife Rhonda; daughters, Lisa and Stacey; his mother in-law Eleanor Joseph; his sister Naomi and brothers-in-law, Arthur Nitikman and Jeffrey Joseph and many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Fanny and Harry Levinson and his father-in-law David Joseph. Garry was born in Winnipeg and attended St. Johns High School and Garden City Collegiate. Except for a brief period, he spent his whole life in Winnipeg. He was the principal owner, and until his death, the operator of Garrys Deli, which was originally located on Jefferson Avenue and Sinclair Street and presently, in the concourse of Winnipeg Square. Garry was a loving husband and father who devoted his life to caring for his family, his friends and his community. He had a wonderful sense of humour and shared lots of laughter with his family and many friends. Garrys family and friends would like to express their profound gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, Intensive Care Unit on the 2nd floor and the Palliative Care Unit on the 8th floor for their gentle and compassionate care of Garry during his short stay with them. Our thanks to all of you for working so hard to sustain Garrys life and for respecting his dignity in death. Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 8 at Congregation Etz Chayim with Rabbi Neil Rose and Dr. Marvin Slutchuk officiating. Burial took place at the Hebrew Sick Cemetery. Pallbearers were his friends, Jerome Avery, Sharron Dudeck, Joel Dudeck, Sheldon Forgan, Percy Greenberg, Lyall Meyers, David Rich and Saul Targownik. Honorary Pallbearers were his brother-in-law Arthur Nitikman and his mentor Sid Halpern. Flowers are gratefully declined.
