JOHN WILGOSH At his residence, on the morning of June 7, 2003, John Wilgosh passed from this place. Surviving him, are his two children, son Ellery and daughter Brenda Bresch; son-in-law Michael; and grandchildren, Andrew and Lauren. Also left to mourn his memory, sisters, Anne Kazina and Mary Paterson (John) brother Bernie (Mary) along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. John was the eighth son in a family of 11 children. He was predeceased by his wife Nelda in 1980, his parents, John and Margaret. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Edward, Joe, Frank, Anton, Stanley, George and Kasimir. Born on August 16, 1925 at the family farm in Cromwell, MB, John eventually settled in Winnipeg in 1949 with his new bride Nelda Cecelia (nee Regnier). They began raising a family in 1955 with the birth of their only son Ellery Brian and completing that family with the birth of their only daughter Brenda Susan. A hard worker, John was always able to provide food, clothing and shelter for his family. He had an exceptionally strong aptitude for mechanical reasoning and an incredible stamina for physical labour. John spent his early years as a farm labourer and a fireman on steam locomotives. He spent 19 years as a steelworker with Vulcan Iron/Bridge and Tank and retired from the Health Sciences Centre in 1989 after 21 years of service there as a Shift Maintenance Mechanic. He also worked part time for more than ten years with Reimer Express. A loyal son, brother and uncle, John had a strong sense of duty and obligation to family. When he was called, he always answered. He was always there from start to finish, and he always did his share. The family of John would like to thank pallbearers, Donald Wilgosh, Gary Paterson, Murray Paterson, Jeff Sargent, Jeff Wilgosh and Gerry Combot for fulfilling this solemn familial duty. We are grateful. Funeral services will be held on June 11 at 9:30 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Interment will follow at the Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 in the memory of John Wilgosh would be greatly appreciated. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
