Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER WOLFE December 18, 1922 - June 7, 2003 Sadly, on Saturday June 7, at the age of 80 years, Peter Wolfe passed away at his home. He was a loving father to Jim (Judi), Greg (Janette) and Brad (Lorena), adoring grandfather to Kris Hooper, Colin, Scott and Brett Wolfe. He was predeceased by Teenie, his wife of 49 years and his brother George. He is survived by sisters, Helen Martens, Anne Klassen and Margaret Littler. Peter was born in Alexanderthal, South Russia and immigrated to Manitoba with his family in 1925. In his home town of Altona, he served as a volunteer fireman, was a founding member of the original Centennial Parks Board and served as a town councillor for 19 years including a term as Deputy Mayor. He spent his entire working life, nearly 50 years, at D.W. Friesen & Sons starting as a labourer and progressing through to Vice President of Production. He was an active member of the Altona Bergthaler Mennonite Church. Peter was an avid curler, golfer and all round sports fan. He was an enthusiastic woodworker, making many keepsakes for family and friends. He and Teenie liked to travel, journeying throughout Canada, the U.S. and Europe. They spent many happy winters with friends in Mesa, AZ as part of the snow birds group. Peter was a kind and loving father who enjoyed spending his free time and vacations with his family. He imparted to his sons his values; a strong work ethic, honesty, courtesy and kindness to others. He was an adoring grandfather to his four grandsons and enjoyed sharing their many activities and being there when they needed grandpas wisdom and support. He will be sadly missed by his extended family and friends and fondly remembered for the wonderful man he was. Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Mennonite Church, 870 Carter St. on Thursday, June 12, 10:30 a.m. Lunch to follow. Interment in Altona Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Viewing will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Chapel, 984 Portage Ave., 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 11. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
