Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOIS MARY BURGESS 1909 - 2003 It is with sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces that our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Poseidon Care Centre at the age of 93. Lois was born in Nelson, BC on September 6, 1909 and moved to Winnipeg with her parents at an early age. She received her education in Winnipeg and was employed by National Trust prior to her marriage to Harold Clifford Burgess in 1939. After raising her children she was employed by Eatons Mail Order for many years. Lois was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Mary Gurney and her husband Clifford. She is survived by her loving family, daughter Jocelyn Barnard and husband Warren of Winnipeg/Falcon Lake and daughter Geraldine Abbott and husband Gary of Nanaimo, BC; grandchildren Lois (Stephen) Mackay, Alison (John) Bonneteau, great-granddaughter Aleethia Mackay all of Winnipeg, and grandsons, Kristopher Eyrikson of Seattle, WA and Keith Eyrikson and partner Melanie Verhaeghe of Winnipeg. Lois nurtured her family with a caring heart and unconditional love and support. Her strong sense of family will be her legacy. Lois lived a long and happy life enriched by many friendships. She will be remembered for her smile, her helpful nature, her generosity and her kindness. We pray that in her new home, mother may feel the reflected warmth of her loving family. Lois happiest moments for over 45 years were spent at the family cottage at Falcon Lake. It was a place of much fun and happiness for four generations. Lois was a faithful member of St. Marks Anglican Church for more than 50 years. The family would like to thank the staff of the Y Senior Day Club, the Home Care staff at Meadowood for assisting mother in the past few years and the professional, caring and compassionate staff of Poseidon Care Centre. Following cremation a private graveside service will take place officiated by The Venerable David Pate. A reception for family and friends will take place at Vic Wyatt House, 919 St. Annes Rd. on Wednesday, June 18 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined but if friends so desire, donations may be made in Lois memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
