MONICA MACLEAN (nee KALYNIUK) March 7, 1963 - June 8, 2003 It is with total despair that the MacLean family must once again announce another tragic loss (this time their mother) Monica. She is survived by her three young sons, Paul, Travis and David; her mother Veronica (George) and her father Paul (Linn). Monica leaves to mourn the best sisters in the world, Paula (Darren), Zoria (Paul/Bill) and Heidi (Recksi and Spice), as well as many sweet nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Gary MacLean from (MacLean and MacLean) KY58 Big Daddy Gary MacLean. Monica had just celebrated her 40th birthday and seemed to be at her peak, more beautiful than ever when she was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer. In recent years Monica had surrounded herself with some very kind, decent friends such as K.K., Janet, Donna, Morris and Marcia, Yves, Laurier, Bob, Howard and Laura, James, Duncan and Jack, the McDougal family, Vance, BC, Peter, Karen, and Mark, Doug, Karl Blair and Marcia, Gordo, Brenda, Tiny, and many others. Monica had spent half her life being a musicians wife, mostly at home, trying to raise the "perfect" family and be the "perfect" hostess. She was a certified fitness trainer. Monica liked to stay in shape and liked to look good. She thrived when she had a decorating project to do. Monica loved to laugh, listen to good music and have fun. But more than anything in the world it was us that she loved. In spite of her hopeless diagnosis and even worse treatment plans for her, Monica maintained her sense of humour and bravery throughout. The only thoughts that would occasionally lead her to her darkest hours was the realization of having her three sons here without benefit of Gary (their father) and herself. Monica was a good mother and her smile and laughter will be sadly missed. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., with Rev. Fr. Robbie McDougall. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
