ANNE NEUFELD (nee PETKAU) Peacefully, on June 7, 2003 Anne Neufeld, 73, passed away to reunite with her husband John, who predeceased her in June 1981, after 28 yeaxrs of loving marriage. She leaves behind to celebrate her life her daughter Shirley and husband Bob Grierson, and their sons, Andrew, William, and Patrick; her son Scott and wife Brenda Neufeld and their sons, Kevin and Steven; her stepgranddaughter Megan Grierson and stepgrandson Rob and wife Trisha Grierson and their children, Evan, Allison and Danica. Anne also leaves to mourn her passing, her brother George Petkau; her sister Natalie and husband Don Janzen; her sister Helen Martens; her brother John Petkau and wife Ellie; and her brother-in-law Brian Bates. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sister Betty; sister-in-law Mary Petkau and brother-in-law Cornelius Martens. Anne was born on March 16, 1930 in Winkler, MB to George and Aganeta (nee Klassen) Petkau. She accepted the Lord at age eight and was baptized at Newton Siding Mennonite Brethren Church. She attended Wingham Consolidated School for her elementary and senior years and completed her Grade 12 at M.B.C.I. in Winnipeg. In August 1953 she married John Neufeld and they began their life together serving in Caronport at the Briercrest Bible Institute. In 1959 they returned to Winnipeg where they continued together till 1981 when John passed away in a boating accident. Although Anne missed John terribly, she found strength in her faith. For the last 10 years of her life, she was an active member of Elim Chapel. Anne also found great consolation in her family, thoroughly enjoying all of her grand and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. Her children would like to express their profound gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff at Saint Boniface Hospital S.I.C.U. who cared for Anne, especially Dr. Asad Junaid and Dr. E. Pascoe. Our thanks to all of you for working so hard to sustain her life and for respecting her dignity in death. Viewing will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Elim Chapel, 546 Portage Ave. Funeral service is at Elim Chapel, 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 12 with interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 9Z9 or to Elim Chapel.
