Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHAN (JOE) ARNOR JOHANSON On Saturday, June 7, 2003 at the Portage District General Hospital, Johan Arnor Johanson, of Portage la Prairie, widower of the late Anna Johanson passed away at the age of 96 years. A graveside service will be held at the Lakeland Cemetery on Thursday, June 12 at 2:00 p.m. with the Pastor Norris Nordin officiating. A reception will follow in the Langruth Hall. Joe was born on April 17, 1907, eldest son of Bertha and Johan Johanson. Joe was raised in the Langruth District. He completed his grade 10 in Glenboro, but he continued his education throughout his life. Joe married Ann Lawter November 26, 1971, althouth they were together for many years before. Throughout their lives they resided at Langruth, Portage, and Sidney, BC. Due to Annes poor health they returned to Portage la Prairie where they spent the remainder of their lives. Over the years Joe had taken himself on many career paths. He started out building grain elevators, fished on Lake Manitoba, owned and operated the BA Garage and the Red & White Store in Langruth. Joe also fixed and built radios, was a certified electrician, took a drafting course, obtained a pilots license (he had his own plane) was a carpenter (built many homes), was a grain farmer and his favourite Amateur Ham Radio operator, which he operated until the end. Joe also taught himself to use computers and owned several. Predeceased by his parents Johann and Bertha; his wife Anna; two brothers, Barney and Oli; two sisters, Sarah and Laura. He leaves to mourn his passing one son Kenneth (Doreen) of Parksville, BC, one daughter Doris (Russell) ofLakeland, six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Also surviving are two brothers, Steini (Marion) of Portage, Clifford (Lois) of Gimli; two sisters, Beatrice Clark (the late John) of Detroit, MI, Helga McNeill (the late Raymond) of Neepawa; sister-in-law Grace Johanson of Portage and many nieces and nephews.
