ANNA BUDZEY (nee MARCYNUK) November 7, 1905 - June 10, 2003 Anna passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, June 10 with her family at her bedside. She was a resident of Meadowood Manor Personal Care home for the past nine years. She was predeceased by her husband Dmetro in March 1970 and was the last surviving member of the original Marcynuk family, having been predeceased by her father Ivan; her mother Sophie; her sisters, Dora (Kostiew), Maria (Babee), Pearl (Bayko) and her two brothers, Harry and Sam. Anna was born in Sifton, MB on November 7, 1905. She married Dmetro Budzey October 16, 1920. After living for short periods of time in Rice Lake, Detroit and Winnipeg, they finally settled in Rorketon, MB in 1923. After approximately 60 years in Rorketon, she moved to Mike Sunka Place in Winnipeg following a short stay in Ste. Rose du Lac. Due to failing health, she moved to Meadowood Manor in May of 1994. She is survived by her children, Omalin (Sophie), Mersil (Laura), Olga (Joe), Fred (Joyce) 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews. All of her life, Anna had a great love of flowers and gardening. It gave her great pleasure when she was asked to provide a centrepiece for a wedding, graduation, or any other event requiring a nice bouquet of flowers. Her "green thumb" and hard work always provided a bountiful crop of vegetables for her family and also for sharing with friends and neighbours. Her deep devotion and loving care during many difficult years will always be remembered and appreciated by her family. Visitors and guests were always welcome in her home. She went to great lengths to prepare food and refreshments for expected, or unexpected company. Her outpouring of hospitality and good sense of humour will be missed by all who knew her. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, David Budzey, Terri Budzey, Greg Fielding, Dave Boonstra; nephews, Stan Babee, Stan Garlinski. All remaining nieces, nephews and friends can consider themselves honorary pallbearers. A very special thanks to the caregivers at Meadowood Manor for the understanding, kindness and attention shown to Mom. Prayers will be held Sunday, June 15 at 6:00 p.m. at Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Home, 502 Main St., S. in Dauphin (204-638-4110). Funeral mass will be held at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection, 801 Jackson St., S. in Dauphin, Monday, June 16 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Rice Lake Cemetery. Rest in Peace - Vichnaya Pamyat What makes a Mom so wonderful Its really many things --- Its her warmth and understanding And the happiness she brings Its her kindness and her tenderness Her sweet and patient ways, Her reassurance, welcome smile And generous words of praise Its her constant way of caring Right from the very start --- But most of all, its because She has a loving, golden heart.
