Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Mr. Callens was my auto shop teacher at Tec Voc in 1971-72 and I have remembered him often and fondly since then. I cannot say enough good things about this man - a finer teacher there has never been. My life is much richer for having received his practical instruction as a teacher and his generous kindness as a human being. It is said that you can tell the character of a person by they way they treat someone that cannot do anything for them. As an awkward youth struggling at a difficult time in my life, I can tell you that Mr. Callens was a kind, encouraging, and appropriately challenging teacher. This world and I, am much better for your life, Mr. Callens. It will be a privilege to see you again on the other side, good teacher and friend. By the way, I'm a college teacher now and I will consider my work successful if I am even half as helpful to my students as you were to me, Sir. Respectfully, Steve C. - Posted by: Steve Calverley (I was his fortunate student.) on: Sep 23, 2016
