EDITH "TAY" McDOWELL (nee GORHAM) Peacefully, in her sleep at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, on June 11, 2003 at the age of 80 years. Tay was born in Transcona on December 18, 1922. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, William McDowell. Tay is lovingly remembered by her brother John Gorham; children, Robin, Colleen (Ron), Walter (Susan), Kevin (Debbie) and Darren (Valerie) and 12 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Tay worked as a lab technician at Concordia Hospital until her retirement. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who also cared for numerous foster children in the 1960s. She had always placed others needs before her own and found good in everyone that she knew. The family would like to thank the care givers and staff of Middlechurch Home, and Bethania Personal Care Home for the loving care and support for Mom. We would also like to thank her home care workers, Claudia and Patricia for their dedication, love and support for mom over the years. A memorial service celebrating Tays life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 11:00 a.m. at Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family internment.
