Her marriage to Walter on January 20, 1940 began a union that spanned 63 years of farm living. Throughout her married life, Ruths primary focus were her family and friends, whom she welcomed with warm hospitality and caring generosity. Her repertoire of interests included baking, crocheting, gardening, and children. In earlier years, Ruths involvement in the Rebekahs brought her a great deal of enjoyment, and until the end of her life Ruth enjoyed friendships made through the Lodge. In later years, Ruths participation in the Hartney Seniors Group was a source of great pleasure. Rev. Don Oddie officiated at the funeral service held at the St. Pauls Presbyterian Church in Hartney on Friday, June 6. Pallbearers were granddaughters, Kelly Baker, Tricia Boch and Jennifer Combs, and grandsons Kenneth and Darwin Somerville and Darryl Boch. Internment in Hartney Riverside Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations in Ruths memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Humane Society. The family is grateful for Moms many friendships that continued after her confining automobile accident. Special thanks would have been given to the late Mina Turnbull and the late Gertrude Jasper. Special thanks are now given to Isobel Vandusen. An honorary thank-you would have been extended to the late Faye Grieve for the exemplary care, above and beyond the call of duty, given to Mom for nine years after her accident. "Grandma, we love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck."
