PETER JAREMA It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Peter Jarema, aged 82, on June 14, 2003 at the Health Science Center. Peter is predeceased by his daughter Sandra; his parents, John and Palipa; his brothers, Mike, Paul, Mac, Fred; and sisters. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Emily of 55 years; loving father and grandfather to Ed (Georgina), Sharon (Robert) and children, Aynsley, Toban and Whitney; Brenda and son Zaz. Peter was born in Strathclair, MB on July 5, 1920. He grew up on the family farm. In his youth when not working on the family farm he enjoyed baseball, boxing and working on his trap lines. As an adult he was an avid curler. Peter was a veteran of the Second World War. Upon moving to Winnipeg he was employed at Christies Biscuits and Winnipeg Hydro, retiring in 1980. During his retirement he spent countless hours doing carpentry work. Peter was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family and his brother-in-laws on their farms during the summer. He enjoyed getting outside riding his bike or the city transit. Later when his health began to fail Peter would ride around on his scooter. He loved to tell stories of his life experiences. For Peter, family was always number one and he took every opportunity to make life more enjoyable for others. The family wishes to thank Susan, Butch and Lourdes and the staff at the Health Science Center for their care, comfort and support when it was most needed. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 18 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will take place prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3.
