Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCALVIN HANNES KEAST January 19, 1925 - June 17, 2003 At home in Steinbach, MB, with his family by his side, Calvins valiant struggle with Multiple Sclerosis ended on June 17, 2003. Calvin was born in Calder, SK, the son of Alfred and Mary Egilsson Keast. At an early age he moved with his family to Roblin, MB where he grew up, attended school and resided until he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 and served overseas until 1945 when the war ended. After brief periods spent in Thunder Bay and Alberta he returned to Roblin where he joined the family business at Keasts Garage on Main Street where he remained until his early retirement. A talented athlete he played hockey, baseball and hunted with his father and brothers in his early years. Later he curled and golfed and took up playing pool when his illness prevented participation in other sports. Calvin loved life, people, his family, motor vehicles and the town of Roblin. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion - Roblin Branch, a life member of the Roblin Lions Club and a founding member of the Roblin Golf and Country Club. In 1995, due to deteriorating health Calvin and Connie relocated to Steinbach to be close to family. His unfailing optimism and sense of humour inspired everyone whose life he touched. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Connie; children, Barbara Coutts (Bryan), Cam Keast (Gina), Tanis Keast (Rudy Dyck), Kelly Keast (Joanne Perchaluk), and Tracey Keast and grandchildren, Chelsea and Chloe Coutts, and Riley, Haley and Braedon Keast. He is also survived by brothers, Gordon Keast (Doris), Bill Keast (Sadie) sisters, Marjorie Sharpen and Thelma Riach (Clarence) sister-in-law Betty Keast and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Bob and wife Doreen; brother Harold and nephew Patrick Keast. Cremation has occurred and a memorial service will be held in Roblin at the United Church on Saturday, June 21 at 2:00 p.m. An informal reception will be held at the Keast residence in Steinbach, Thursday, June 19 at 3:00 p.m. Calvin and family wish to thank our Home Care friends and many others who helped and encouraged us especially as the journey became more difficult. We will never forget you.
