ALBERT WESLEY (CATT) COTT 1924-2003 Wes slipped away peacefully and unexpectedly on June 10, 2003 at the Deer Lodge Centre after a long struggle with Parkinsons Disease. Wes was born on March 15, 1924, at Turtleford, SK and moved at an early age to the Treherne area with his parents Roy and Mildred Cott. Wes served in the Second World War, graduated from the University of Manitoba and taught school for seven years in the Yukon and Manitoba. In 1956 he changed careers and served as a meteorologist in Cold Lake, France and Newfoundland before settling in Winnipeg, then retiring in 1987. Wes loved to travel. Ironically his wife and daughter were visiting old friends in Spain when he passed away. Wes lived a full and active life for as long as possible. He enjoyed bridge, photography, hunting and fishing in Whiteshell Park, dancing, following sports and politics, and good food. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shrine and Legion. Although a quiet man, he enjoyed meeting with friends for coffee and a visit, especially in his later years. Wes always liked a good joke. Wes is survived by his loving wife of 53 years,Anne; daughters, Cheryl (Larry Yoshida) Toronto, Gloria at the St. Norbert Nursing Home in Winnipeg; Rob Mahle; and beloved grand-children, Ken, Laurie and Robbie of Kingston; sisters, Aileen, Marry (Stan) Sheila, Isabel; sister-in-law Irene Hedley; nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends. Wes ashes will be placed at Chapel Lawn with his parents, brother Gerald and sister Fern. Following Wes last wishes there will be no funeral service.
