MARIA E. DASILVA It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend. Maria was born in Acores, Portugal on October 3, 1924. She immigrated to Canada to join her husband, residing in several small communities before settling in Sioux Lookout, ON, to raise their family. Her passion was sewing, gardening, cooking, and just spending time with her kids. Her love and laughter will be sorely missed. Maria was predeceased by her husband John Silva; her parents, Joe and Maria DaSilva; her brothers, Joe and John DaSilva; and her grandson Christopher Clara. Maria is survived by her five children, Joe and wife Karen DaSilva of Winnipeg, John DaSilva of Winnipeg, Filomena and husband Dan Clara of Steinbach, MB, Fernanda and husband Garf Carson of Winnipeg, Margaret and husband Al Derusha of Sioux Lookout, ON; and 17 grand-children, Tony (Shawna), Mike, Sean, Matthew, Cubby, John, and Anne, Jason, Justyna, Jamie, Jaboa, Jordan, Jarome, and Jannessa, Shane and DeSarea and Bobby; three great-grandchildren, Trey, Ashley, and Mariha. Maria is also survived by two brothers in the Acores, Tiberio and Carlos DaSilva and their families; and one brother in Sioux Lookout, Edward and wife Maria DaSilva and their family. Viewing will be Sunday, June 22, 2003, at the Sioux Lookout Funeral Home between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, on Monday, June 22, 2003 at 10:00 a.m.
