THOMAS ALBERT FRANCIS (Ab) CLARKE Ab passed away peacefully on June 18, 2003 at Carman Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. Forever loved and remembered by Betty (Neumann), his wife of 55 years; and children, Gwen Miguez, Linda (John) Dyck, Frances (Michael) Cearns, Evelyn (Todd) Malyon; and grandchildren, Miles, Haley, and Connor. Predeceased by his parents, Tom and Charlotte, Ab is survived by sisters, Nellie Jenner, Lillian Rasmussen, Hazel Paton, Claire (Clive) Hunter; and many relatives and friends. Ab was born at Carman, MB on February 11, 1914. He served in the Second World War in the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders and the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME). He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 57 years. Ab and Betty were married in 1948 and lived and farmed at Roseisle. Ab served as School Trustee in Roseisle and Councillor in the RM of Dufferin. In 1958, the family moved to Winnipeg. Ab retired from Northern Messenger in 1982 after 22 years of service. In 1995, Ab and Betty moved to Carman. Ab will be remembered by those who knew him for his gentle nature, sense of wry humour and his common sense approach to life. He also knew how to fix just about anything. We will miss him dearly. According to Abs wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on June 28 at Carman United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Abs memory to a charity of your choice.
