JAMES HILTON FRIESEN He arrived at the Concordia Emergency with severe chest pains, shortly thereafter his heart stopped. The best efforts of the hospital staff could not resuscitate him. He died at noon, Thursday, June 19, 2003, at age 46. James was born in Portage la Prairie on February 11, 1957. His family moved to Winnipeg when James was young, and has made it his home ever since. He was educated at Kildonan East and then Red River College. James is survived by his parents Hilton and Stephanie; his sister Kimberley (Larry) and their children, Matthew and Bethany. He will also be greatly missed by his grandma Julianna Friesen; his aunts and uncles, Ernie and Aldyth Toews, Herman and Valerie Kasper (Steinbach), Charles and Lavina Rattai (Oak Bank), and his mothers brother Bill Melnyk. He also worked as a sound technician for Folklorama pavilions and numerous bars and bands. James loved to play computer and board games with his family and friends and we will miss his boisterous and infectious laugh. He took great pleasure in analyzing circuits on his computer, tinkering with VCRs, building computers and other electronic gizmos for his friends and relatives. James had a special place in his heart for Matthew and Bethany, who loved to spend countless hours with him in Grandpas basement, playing on the computer, watching cartoons, playing with and watching the model trains run around the layout.
