(BEN) GREGORY Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, June 19, 2003 at St. MichaelÕs Hospital, Toronto, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 78 years of age. A devoted and loving husband and father, he is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marguerite Patricia, and his four children, Joanne, John, Daniel, and Barbara. He is also survived by a sister, Teresa, of Ottawa and a brother, James, of Montreal. Ben was born in Winnipeg, MB., on November 7, 1924 and attended St. MaryÕs Academy, St. PaulÕs High School and the University of Manitoba. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, achieving the rank of Pilot Officer, and was discharged with honours in 1945. He held various positions at Burns Foods in Winnipeg until 1967 when he moved to Stange Canada (now McCormick Canada) in Toronto. He worked in sales, eventually becoming Vice President-Sales and a member of the Board of Directors of the company. After retiring in 1989, he greatly enjoyed exploring with Marg all the wonders of Australia, New York, London and Rome, among other exotic locations. A kind and gentle man, he will be sorely missed by all his friends and family. The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, Toronto (1-800-616-3311), from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at St. BasilÕs Church, Toronto, on Wednesday, June 25 at 10:30 a.m. for the Mass of Christian Burial. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at St. MichaelÕs Hospital, 30 Bond St., Toronto, ON M5B 1W8.
