HAROLD LORNE LINKLATER It is with deep sadness that we annonce the passing of Harold Linklater on Thursday, June 19, 2003 at the age of 70 years, surrounded by his family at the Selkirk General Hospital. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Phylis and their children, Leona, Rhonda (Ken), Cheryl (Ron), Sandra (Tom) and Darren (Lisa) grandchildren, Kerry, Cory (Jo-Anne), Crystal, Justin, David and Jacquiline; great-granddaughters, Bailey, Mackenzie-Lee and Amber. He also leaves his sisters, Louise (Bill) Dear and Sharon (Mervin) Russell; brother-in-law Elmer Sommer and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Gladys and Jack; his sister Eleanor Sommer; brother Raymond; infant daughter Claire and son-in-law Dale Wilson. Harold was born on August 25th, 1932 in Selkirk (Cloverdale) where he grew up and helped work the family farm. He worked at the Manitoba Rolling Mills for 37 years where he made a great number of friends. His greatest passion was his family and friends and was always eager to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Harold loved to tinker around with his old farm equipment and you could always catch him trying to modify something. He also had a love for the outdoors and his horses. After his retirement, Mom and Dad spent more time on their dancing, driving all over the province with their Old Times Dance groups and making new friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in the Cloverdale United Churchyard Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ken Atkins, Ron Atkins, Tom Pruden, Corwin Dear, Devon Russell and Landin Russell. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Room 1160 - 675 McDermot Ave. Wpg, MB R3E 0V9 He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his family and many friends.
