Lucille was born near Veteran, AB on January 11, 1918, the daughter of Nellie and Frank Westrom. Her father Frank Westrom passed away on November 30, 1921, leaving her mother with three young children on the homestead. Her mother married Sydney Douglass in 1922. Lucille spent her childhood with her brother and four sisters under the care of her mother and a very wonderful stepfather on the farm. He was stationed in Calgary for a year or so then transferred to Montreal. Twin boys were born March 27, 1943 but neither of them survived. It was soon after this that Robert was transferred to Winnipeg. Lucille started to work again for Woolworths. She continued to do this for many years until she retired. They had a lovely home and many good friends in Winnipeg. They took many holidays, some to Roberts family and friends in Britain, and to Lucilles family in Alberta. She was predeceased by her father Frank Westrom in 1921; her stepfather, Sydney Douglass in 1982; her mother, Nellie Douglass in 1984; her brother, Lawton Westrom in 1991.
