Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJESSIE (JAY) WHITWELL Jay passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2003 at the Charleswood Care Centre at the age of 83. Jay will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Bill, who were spending their 60th year together. As well, Jay leaves behind her sister Laura Somerville; her children, Dale and Doug (Tanis) of Calgary; grandchildren, Sarah and Shane and Marcy, Erin and Brooke of Calgary and Leah of Langley, BC; three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Brendon and Aidan; as well as many nieces and nephews. Jay was born September 6, 1919 on the family farm in Silver Plains, MB. Family has always played a big part of her life. The family especially remembers the wonderful times spent at their cottage on West Hawk Lake for over 40 years. In her earlier years, she was an active member of U.C.W., Unit #12 of Westworth United Church. The family would like to thank the staff of the Charleswood Care Centre, Special Care Unit 1 for their compassionate care for Jessie. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, June 24 at 1:30 p.m. at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Ave. with reception to follow. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in remembrance of Jay to either the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10 - 120 Donald St., R3C 2R6, or The Canadian Diabetes Society, 102 - 310 Broadway, R3C 0S6.
