Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTELLA JUSTINA CHERNIAK (nee PASTERNAK) Stella Justina Cherniak, born October 4, 1903, passed away peacefully June 21, 2003. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in July of 1980. She will be sadly missed by her children, Edwin (Jenny), Steve (Jennie), Joyce Litwin and Rose Thomas, also by her 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Educated at North Felsendorf School, employed in Winnipeg until her marriage to Joseph in June of 1929. They then purchased a farm in Gimli, MB on which they lived until 1972, retiring to the town of Gimli, enjoying many years of retirement. Stella was a member of the New Horizons Club for 30 years. She especially enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and carpet bowling, and also a member of the St. Michaels C.W.L. for 35 years, her quick wit and pleasant smile gained her many friends. She was a longtime member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church and was honoured as the oldest member in July 2002. A special thanks to the staff at Betel Home Foundation for the excellent care given to her. Prayers will be held Tuesday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, June 25 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Gimli with Fr. Art Seaman officiating. Interment to follow in the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to Betel Home Foundation. Rest in Peace Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, in care of arrangements.
