FREDERICK WILLIAM MANNESS February 25, 1923 - June 21, 2003 Survived by his wife of 57 years (Edwina) children, Charles (Beth), Ron (Hilda), Brenda (Craig) Bohne; two brothers, two sisters, five grandchildren, one stepgrandchild and seven great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his father and mother, three brothers, two sisters, father and mother-in-law, sister-in-law and three brothers-in-law. Fred received his schooling at Ashville, MB, Alexander, MB, Loggan near Virden, MB, and Bowsman, leaving school there to work on the home farm. He moved with his parents to a dairy farm south of Stony Mountain in 1940. In 1942 Fred joined the Army, stationed at Fort Osborne Barracks and Shilo, MB. Following his discharge he worked at home until his marriage to Edwina McDougall in 1945. Dad worked at Perths Cleaners, Texaco and Pacific 66, Provincial Dept. of Highways, auctioneer and owner of Warren Auction Mart and farmer/rancher. After living and retiring in Warren, Mom and Dad moved to Stonewall Lions Manor in April 2001. Fred was a lifetime member of the Progressive Conservative Party. Thanks to Dr. Hussan and the staff at Selkirk and District Memorial Hospital. Friends may call from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25 at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Rev. John Stennett will officiate. Interment will take place in the Warren Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Lyle MacMillan, Bill Kotelko, Ken Burnett, Stuart Manness, Mark Manness, Rob Urquhart. Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Jeffery, Mel Sine, Trevor Manness, Haas Pandya, Rick Bohne and Gary Armstrong. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
