Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR "ROY" RUSHWORTH Born in Winnipeg - April 16, 1921 It is with great sorrow the Rushworth family announces the passing of our very dear father and grandfather, Roy Rushworth on June 23, 2003 at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home, at the age of 82. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Janey Rushworth; and his loving wife Jean Rushworth in October 1998. He will be fondly remembered by his sons, Allan and Glen, along with their families, Allan, Diane, Kyle and Ian Rushworth of Winnipeg; and Glen, Lynda, Andrew and Kevin Rushworth of Calgary. Along with the immediate family, he will be sadly missed by his sister-in-law Rose Yaskowich of Yorkton; brothers-in-law, Mike Lewandoski of Wynyard and Bill Law of Moose Jaw; also his many nieces and nephews and their families; as well as many long time friends and neighbours. Roy was born and raised in Winnipeg, attended school in the St. James area and later joined the Canadian Navy in 1941 on the ship H.M.C.S. Charlottetown, until his release from service in 1945. He met and married Jean (Lewandowski) in 1948. He was employed as a pipe-fitter foreman in C.P.R. Weston Shops until his retirement in 1981. He filled his leisure time with his sons, grandsons and good friends, all who enjoyed his skills of fishing for Manitoba pickerel and took pride in giving a point or two on how to catch the most fish in the least amount of time! He also enjoyed the hunting trips with his friends. His family was a close and dear part of his life. He will be sadly missed by his family, his close friends and everyone who knew him. Time cannot steal the treasures that we carry in our hearts, Nor ever dim the shining thoughts our cherished past imparts. Our family wishes to thank all who extended their care, concern and love. Also thank you to the Nursing staff and Doctors at Grace General Hospital for their care. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Roy wished that donations in his memory be made to the Childrens Wish Foundation of Canada (Manitoba Chapter), 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2.
