CARROL BATTIGELLI (SPICER) It is with great sadness that the family announces that Carrol Ann Battigelli (Spicer) of Trout Lake, Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2003 at St. Josephs Care Group, after a courageous battle with cancer, with her family at her side. Carrol, with her first husband George and their family, together with their friend and partner Harvey Cardwell, moved to Thunder Bay in 1975 to found the Robins Donut Chain. She retired from active participation in 1989 but retained continued business interests with her partner and friend Harvey. In addition to her family who she loved dearly, Carrol had many interests and talents which include her gardens, art, stained glass and particularly their cabin at Zig Zag Island on Lake Of The Woods where many enjoyable seasons of the year were spent with family and friends. Carrols many attributes, known to all her friends and always displayed throughout her life showed strong courage and conviction to high principles. A vibrant beautiful and classy lady, successful in all her pursuits, inspired not only her family, but also many others. She is survived by her husband and best friend Dennis; daughters, Lori Spicer, Kim Mak (Eric) and grandson Marshall, Kelly Spicer (Guy Donaldson) and granddaughter Mira; her step-children, Jeff Battigelli (Kate), Janet Kuijt (Steve), Tom Battigelli (Karen) and her grandchildren, Fynley and Anja Kuijt, Graeme, Patrick and Charlotte Battigelli; brother Alan (Skip) Leppard (Marg) sister Maizie Drager (Harvey) brother and sister-in-law Bob and Betty Battigelli; step-sister JoAnne Gropmiere (Frank) as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. Carrol was predeceased by her first husband, George in 1981 and her parents, Art and Ellie Leppard and step-mother Laura. In accordance with Carrols wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Carrols Life will take place on Wednesday, July 2 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Valhalla Inn. Flowers gratefully declined and friends so wishing, may make donations to the Northwestern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre.   • Dear Dennis I am so sorry to be so late with my condolences for your terrible loss. From me and my family I offer our sincere expressions of support and prayers to you. Thank you for your kind words for our recent loss of your beloved cousin George. It is deeply appreciated by me and my family. Please come see us sometime on Vancouver Island. My children and grandchildren would love to see you and your progeny.
