Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNINO (TONY) MILITANO Peacefully on June 23, 2003 at St. Boniface Hospital, Nino (Tony) Militano passed away at the age of 82 years. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 49 years, Lina; his children, Carmine (Nancy) and grandchildren, Anthony, Kaitlyn and Danny; Rosa (Delfin) Martin and grandchildren, Julia and Anthony; Cathy (Joey) Funk and grandchildren, Montana and Matteo; brothers, Domenico (Carmela), Rocco (Alfonza) in Italy, Giuseppe (Shirley) in Kitchener, ON; sisters, Angela Zirino, Rosina (Domenico) Luppino in Italy; sisters-in-law, Annunziata Militano and Domenica Militano; brother-in-law Tony (Pina) Princi; sister-in-law Pasqualina Princi, sister-in-law Angela (Saverio) Gelardi; cousins, Francesco (Rosa) Militano, Carmela (Vincenzo) Ianno, Nino (Angela) Filleti, Judy Filleti, Rocco Filleti, Rosario (Maria) Larizza in Thunder Bay, Joe (Gloria) Filleti, numerous nieces and nephews throughout Canada and in Italy, and many relatives in Montreal and Boston. He was predeceased by his parents Carmine and Rosa; his brothers, Giovanni and Carmine; brother-in-law Michele Zirino, Uncle Carmine and Aunt Pasqualina Filleti; cousin Giuseppe Filleti; in-laws, Raffaele and Caterina Princi and brother-in-law Angelo Princi. Nino was born in Acquaro di Cosoleto, Reggio Calabria on September 10, 1920, the second of eight children. In 1951, he was the first of his immediate family to immigrate to Canada and was soon followed by four brothers and one sister. Through hard work and dedication he built a life for his family. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother, his love for his family had no bounds. He worked for Canadian National Railway for 33 years until his retirement in 1984, making many friends along the way. He was passionate about his wine-making and gardening and fortunately was able to do both into his eighties. Prayers will be said at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 26 at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 27 at Holy Rosary Church, Fr. Sam Argenziano officiating. Entombment to follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley St. Honorary pallbearers are his cousin Francesco Militano, and nephews, John Militano, Carmine Zirino, Raffaele Princi, and Carmelo, Raffaele and Tony Gelardi. Active pallbearers will be his grandson Anthony Militano, nephews, Carmine, Carmelo, and Tony Militano, Joe Zirino and niece Rosa Giampaulo. Special thanks to the staff of St. Boniface Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
