He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ruth; his children, Alan (Frieda), Bob (Fran), Kim (Gerard) and Pat; his sister Edith; niece Judy; grandchildren, Jennifer, Chris, Joe, Tom and Craig. He was born January 13, 1918 in Winnipeg. He was educated in Winnipeg and Moose Jaw, SK. Fred entered service at the Bank of Commerce in 1936 in Winnipeg. Fred enlisted in the R.C.A.F. in May 1941, went overseas in October 1941 and was attached to R.A.F. He served at stations in the United Kingdom and combined operations in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and France. Fred had many interests in his life, including stamp collecting, golf, crossword puzzles and puttering at the cottage at Victoria Beach, where he and Ruth and family enjoyed many happy years. Community involvement was very important to Fred and he was very active in the United Church, and service clubs during his working career, and his residence association. The family would like to thank the staff on D4 at the Health Sciences Centre for their compassionate care. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 30 at 1:00 p.m. at McClure Place, 533 Greenwood Place, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Freds name to the charity of your choice. When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in the gloom filled room, Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long, And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we must all take And each must go alone, Its part of the Masters plan, A step on the road to home. So when you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds, Miss me - but let me go.
