Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA MARIA SPAGNUT (nee VELTRONI) September 15, 1937 - June 26, 2003 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, wife and aunt, Mrs. Anna Maria Spagnut. She died peacefully at her home on June 26, 2003 at 3:25 p.m. after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Anna was born in Monte San Savino, Arezzo, Italy, met her husband Tarcisio Archie Spagnut there and they married on June 28, 1958. Her husband then left Italy to come to Canada to make a new life here in Winnipeg and to set up house for his new bride. Anna stayed in Italy until everything was arranged for her to come to Canada. She arrived in Winnipeg to be with her husband in May 28, 1959. With her husband always working out of town, Anna raised two wonderful children here in Winnipeg. She learned to speak English by herself and eventually how to drive a car. Anna became a Canadian citizen on October 13, 1967. With a good sense for business, Anna slowly developed a real estate empire by herself, owning an apartment building and several rental properties. She was a hands-on owner landlord who took care of her properties by vacuuming, cleaning and doing repairs. Anna befriended many tenants and other people, and welcomed them into the family with open arms. Countless times after she worked hard repairing and vacuuming her apartment building she would come home to cook gourmet meals, then bring them back to her tenants hot from the oven, no matter how tired she felt after a hard day at work. She always loved and cared for others. One of her many talents was that she was a Master Chef always creating gourmet meals that other chefs would only dream of, then feeding the people that she loved. She was a mother to all. Anna was predeceased by a baby sister, Morino Guerri (uncle), Egedio Spagnut (brother-in-law), Antonio Veltroni (father), Pasqualina Veltroni nee Guerri (mother), and Brunera Veltroni (sister). She leaves to mourn her loving family, Tarcisio Archie Spagnut (husband), Larry Lorenzo Spagnut (son), Tamy Grazia Cummings nee Spagnut (daughter), Glenn Bruce Cummings (son-in-law), Elio Spagnut (brother-in-law), Maria Spagnut (sister-in-law), Nancy Kaufman (niece), her husband Rob and their two sons, Vittorio Spagnut (brother-in-law), Giovannina Spagnut (sister-in-law), and many cousins. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Grace Hospital, third floor, and a very special thanks to Sharon Welsh who made it possible for Moms wish to come true. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Marys Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Ave. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery and Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Ave. A reception will follow at the Holiday Inn Airport West, 2520 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 775-2220.
