Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWOLODYMYR (WALTER) SERWYLO On June 27, Wolodymyr (Walter) Serwylo passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 81 years. Our family lost a dear husband, father, grandfather and dear, dear friend. Wolodymyr was predeceased by his first wife, Maria Serwylo (nee Kalymon), in 1973, and his son, Peter Serwylo in 2000. Remaining to always celebrate his life are wife Kateryna Serwylo in Winnipeg; daughters, Ann Schajnoha (husband Walter), Julie Barret (husband William) and Mary Johnson (husband Daniel) in Ontario; sons by his second marriage, Orest (wife Oksana) Winnipeg and Ray, Winnipeg; grandchildren, Walter Schajnoha Jr. and Sharon of Calgary, Shane William Westwood and wife Lisa (great-granddaughter Kiersten Riley), Christina Schajnoha and companion Liam Maynard, Carol and husband Lee McClellan, Jennifer, Justin and Katie Serwylo, Natalia and Olena in Winnipeg and Melania, Maara, Anton, and Peter in Australia. Wolodymyr was born in the village of Nakvasha, oblast Lviv, Ukraine on August 28, 1921. Wolodymyr immigrated to Canada from Ukraine in 1946. He worked for Christies Biscuits in Toronto, ON and raised his family with his wife Maria. Upon retirement, he married Kateryna of Winnipeg and spent his last 27 years in Winnipeg. He worked in security at Eatons until the late 80s. Prayers will be sung at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 1 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 2 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. with Rev. M. Kouts officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Help Us Help the Children, Winnipeg Branch, P.O. Box 2887 Station Main, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4B4 or a charity of your choice.
