FRANK BOOTHROYD On Tuesday, July 1, 2003, Frank passed away in the Grace Hospital. Born in Manchester, England in 1909. He was predeceased by his father in 1927; his mother in 1955; and his sister in 1979. Frank will be remembered by his son Ralph, as well as his sister-in-law Anne Kidd. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Frank came to Canada from England in 1912. He was a veteran of the taxi service beginning as a mechanic in 1926. He moved to California and worked for the Ford Motor Co. from 1927 to 1928. He then managed Moores Taxi from 1928 to 1941. Frank joined the Army Reserves in February of 1940, then the regular force in August of 1941. Frank participated in the North West Campaign in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany from 1944 to 1945. He returned home as acting Lieutenant Colonel of the First Parachute Brigade. In 1948, Frank became President and G.M. of Moores Taxi. In 1956, he was a shareholder in Moores, Grovenor and Yellow Cab. He retired on November 1, 1972 when the company became Unicity Taxi. Frank was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Fellowship Club and the Lions Club. Frank received several awards in the 1950s for public service. Frank enjoyed good health until his late eighties. Special thanks to the doctors and Health Care staff for the last 10 years of care, especially Dr. Mayba Sr. and Dr. Mayba Jr. of Manitoba Clinic; Dr. A. Miller, Dr. Bhattachay, Dr. Downs of Health Sciences; Dr. Silagy of Park West Medical; Dr. Hedden of St. Boniface; Dr. Mallik and Dr. Joshua of ICU; and nurses and staff of 2E and 2S of Deer Lodge and 5 Floor Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grace Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment to follow. Eulogy by Cindi Madden (niece). Pallbearers will be Ronn, Bill and Don Kidd, Mario Beaudre, Darcy Wallin and Brian Roundtree.
