GIUSEPPA SCALETTA (nee LOMBARDO) Peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at Riverview Health Centre, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away. Born in Termini Imerese, Italy on November 26, 1904, Giuseppa emigrated to Winnipeg in 1951 along with 6 children to join her husband and 2 children who had emigrated earlier. Mother enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing cards and telling Italian folktales to her children and grandchildren. She was especially thrilled when yet another grandchild or great grandchild was on the way. She was predeceased by her husband Agostino, son Ignazio and 2 infant children. Nonna leaves to cherish her memory her children: Josie Martin (Bill), daughter-in-law Salvatora Scaletta, Vincenzo Scaletta (Josie), Angela Porco (Frank), Maria Maida (Alfredo), Salvatore Scaletta (Carla), Giuseppe Scaletta (Diane), Anna Scaletta-Mooibroek (John) 22 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Fred Olds on Monday, July 7, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernadette Roman Catholic Church, 820 Cottonwood Road. Interment will follow at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Street. Pallbearers will be Nonnas 5 youngest grandsons: Robert Scaletta, Richard Porco, Paulo Scaletta, Paul Porco, Mark Scaletta and great grandson David Baetsen. The family is grateful to the staff at CD3, Riverview Health Centre for the care Mother received over the last 8 years.
